Pastoral Care

FUMC has a wonderful, caring Pastoral Care team. They meet monthly to review needs and to create a schedule of calling and visits. They share this ministry in offering care by phone and through home and hospital visits.

YOU are a partner in this minstry. Please involve us in advance whenever possible: anticipate needs of aging parents and spouses, plan ahead for your own support and care, and let us know when you will be going in for surgery or treatment.

We make regular calls to our homebound members and members who are ill, but we cannot know of your or other's needs without help. We would appreciate you letting us know as soon as possible that a pastoral care need has arisen. As a member of the congregation, you may know of needs and concerns before the church staff or clergy does. Please take a moment and let us know in the church office. You may contact us at any time by email or voicemail. It is always better to hear from several persons than not at all.

We are undergirded by the prayers of our Intercessory Prayer group, the Prayer Quilt Ministry and the congregation.

To submit a prayer request, or to let us know about any pastoral care needs, use any of the methods mentioned above or simply write it on the back of your attendance card on Sunday morning.

We now have a book entitled "The Eldercare Handbook: Difficult Choices, Compassionate Solutions" by Stella Mora Henry, R.N., with Ann Convery which is available in the church library.
