Children's Ministry

The
Children's Ministry accommodates babies and children through 5th
grade.
For children in 6th grade and up please see the Youth
pages.
Sunday
School
Sunday school classes are offered in the Education
Building for babies through 5th grade. Children join in the 10 am
worship service every Sunday for the first 15 minutes or so during
which they participate in the Children's Message. They then go to
their classrooms for Sunday School.
Cherub Choir
Cherub Choir for preschoolers will take place from 10:50 - 11
am during the school year. The Cherub Choir Director is Jan Ellis.
Children's
Choir
The children's choir for elementary age children is directed by
Janet Searfoss. They meet at 9 am on Sunday mornings during the school
year. The Children's Choir sings regularly in church as well as
participating in special musical events and singing at the Family
Christmas Eve service.
Family
Sundays
On Family Sundays, babies through four-year-olds go to their usual
rooms in the Education Building; children in Kindergarten and up
attend worship in the sanctuary with their families for the entire
service.
Welcome Baby
This is a new ministry for families with newborns and adoptions. The children will be involved in the ongoing creation of blankets to share with their new friends. They will pray over these blankets as they are sent out as gifts of love and welcome. If you would like to request a blanket for a new arrival, please contact the church office.
Faith in Action
Faith is more than a belief, it is an action. On every 5th Sunday of the month, all Sunday School children gather together as one class for a hands-on service project. Projects vary from crafty outreach such as making Christmas Cards for shut-ins to community-focused projects like gathering and donating school supplies for local students. This is a opportunity for children to reach out into their community and their world with grace and love.
Children's After School Theater
CAST is a community program of FUMC for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade. It fosters positive, imagination-inspired actions while building self-esteem through the arts. It explores writing, developing and producing plays and builds trust and teamwork.
CAST sessions are built around the school semesters following the SMUSD calendar. A more involved summer camp version of the program is offered during the summer months.
