Vacation Bible School 2008 Beach Party! Surfin' Through the Scriptures
PreK - 5th Grade This summer The United Methodist churches of Santa Monica and Westwood are doing a joint-VBS-adventure! We invite all children from ages 3 years old to 5th grade to be part of the excitement of Beach Party! Surfin’ Through the Scriptures. This Beach Party-themed
adventure, published by Cokesbury, offers a week of summer Bible-based camp for pre-school and elementary children of all denominations. Children will enjoy fun,
interactive activities that combine the world of surfing with the discovery of how to surf on the turf through God’s Word, come to know Jesus, and develop new Beach Be-attitudes: Be Obedient, Be Kind, Be Forgiving, Be Bold, and Believe! The Bible stories offered at Surfin’ the Scriptures Time illustrate simple but key messages (Beach Combing) and encourage further exploration into the Bible. Children will extend their learning through every activity: making creations in Beach Comber Crafts; singing fun music at Sound Waves; delving into science activities at the Surfin’ and Sand Science Lab; playing games at The Rockin’ Rec; enjoying tasty snacks and then preparing mission packets at the Snack Shack, where the motto is “Serve and Be Served.” The adventure begins on Monday, August 4 and ends on Friday, August 8 at FUMC Santa Monica. Each day begins at 8:30 am and ends at 12:30 pm with a “Surf’s Up Beach Party” in FUMC’s social hall.
